DrFrankenPolish Stonewash Blue Konad

DrFrankenPolish does it again! I’m lucky enough to have received one of her “non-published” editions of her Stonewash blue nail polish. Totally unique and awesome!

DrFrankenPolish Last Shuttle To Pluto Konad

It’s hard to find nice duochromes. DrFrankenPolish makes them so well (BTW, those of you that follow her blog, she’s back)! I had a really tough time capturing this duochrome. It’s so cool though: shifts from blue to purple! I added a Funky French on it

Sorry about the dark lighting… it was difficult to capture this lovely. Pictures don’t do justice!

Her frankening talent never ceases to amaze me!

By the way, Zoya Rea works with ‘nad! :)

Copyrighting Colors: Sad resort

If you think about it, there are obviously dupes for various polish out there. There are a ton of companies that make nail polish and it could or could not be a coincidence that a company makes a dupe every now and then. However, each nail polish company has their own “trademark” style: OPI loves reds, Color Club does neons and holos well, China Glaze always listens to us and comes up with very innovative textures and colors. So yea, dupes happen.

However, when we’re talking about such a small community of polish lovers, this kind of makes me upset. My good friend DrFrankenPolish has been frankening for a while and she really has a style of their own. But when someone knocks colors off to the exact and sells it for profit, that’s what makes this topic slightly uncomfortable. Yes, DrFrankenPolish does post her recipes, but I don’t think she does it to expect others to sell her intellectual/creative property. I took snippets of DrFrankenPolish and Knock-off-for-profit to show you the similarities to the two:

While there’s nothing we can do about it, I just hope that people would realize that greed does not win :(

Mozart Meets Madonna Konad

One of the main reasons why I got this plate is for the music design. For those of you who know my MUA name, you know that I play the piano and love music. I thought about just doing all black and white, but I figured I would add some 80s to it to.

Tip of the day: It seems that Konad polish with the best with designs that involve fine lines in a close proxmity. If you ever do a ‘nad with something like staff and eight notes and are having a hard time with chromes, try something thicker like Konad polish!

Guest non-’nadder: DrFrankenPolish

This is the last (but definitely not least) Guest of this week. Most of you probably know DrFrankenPolish (OceanMist27 on MUA). Not only has she been featured in All Lacquered Up,  she also has an eye for colors and makes the most wonderful new colors with her existing collection. That kind of art takes talent: it’s no wonder she is good with nail art too. Check out this fun and fruity nail art that she did with fruit slices (for nails) purchased from eBay.

Fruits of the Day with China Glaze Watermelon Rind by DrFrankenPolish

Edit: Due to many fruit inquires, here are DrFrankenPolish’s instructions on  how to apply the fruit: I did my base color mani first, using a coat of Seche Vite, then attached the fruitz once it dried. :-) I put the fruitz on with nail glue, and did not use a top coat over them.

Be sure to check out her the DrFrankenPolish Blog if you feel up to the challenge to make your own nail polish!
