Zoya Miley Konad

Another rave for Creative Nail Design’s Effects. I added it over a soft shade and it just makes the soft shades much more fun. I would say this is definitely a fun work appropriate combo!

DrFrankenPolish Last Shuttle To Pluto Konad

It’s hard to find nice duochromes. DrFrankenPolish makes them so well (BTW, those of you that follow her blog, she’s back)! I had a really tough time capturing this duochrome. It’s so cool though: shifts from blue to purple! I added a Funky French on it

Sorry about the dark lighting… it was difficult to capture this lovely. Pictures don’t do justice!

Her frankening talent never ceases to amaze me!

By the way, Zoya Rea works with ‘nad! :)

Zoya Harley Konad

For some reason I always forget about my grays… They’re so lovely, but they’re in the “unseen” section where I store my polish. Anyway, here’s a classic argyle Konad that everyone seems to love:

Zoya Rea Konad

Zoya Rea is one of my favorite purples. I figured with that kind of shimmer, it might be worth trying it with matte. I think they’re equally nice, but which one do you like better?

Thank you for entering the Konad Kontest! The decision is tough: there were so many beautiful entries and I’ve had so much fun looking through the pictures!

Zoya Tangy Konad

This is one of my favorite greens out there: Zoya Tangy. It’s lime green with a hint of peach flash! To keep the summery spirit of the color, I added a hot pink “wavy” Konad over it:

Patriotic ‘nad: Zoya Divincia

As much as I dislike reds, I would be more than happy to paint them for the sake of celebrating our freedom. Sooo cheesy, I know! Yes, I took this off right after I took the photo! This is a simple stars and fireworks (I guess that’s what it is) on the thumb:

Tip of the day: if your polish has not been completely dried and you ‘nad over it, you’ll see wrinkle “lines”. You can try to smooth them out by gently “wiping” them with your thumb. Don’t worry too much about the fine lines: they’ll be covered up with the next layer of top coat anyway!

Reader Request: Zoya Miley and OPI Parlez-Vous OPI? Konad

One of my lovely readers Lucy request that I did a Konad with plate m60. I love this plate. Especially like the plaid and the argyle patterns on it because they’re so scholastic. One of my favorite non-Konad polish to use to ‘nad is OPI Parlez-Vous OPI? because the color is so unique. However, it did turn out a little spotty, but I left it on because it reminds me of the worn out vintage plaid look:

Tip of the day: If you’re having a hard time trying to get all the polish scraped off the plate, try to not only clean off the plate, but clean of your scraper as well. Sometimes polish globs get on the scraper and makes the scrap not as clean. A quick clean with nail polish remover should do the trick!

Tipsy Tuesday: DIY Wedding Manicure

Summer is wedding season! I figured I would take this opportunity to give you a quick tutorial on a wedding-inspired manicure (this will save you some $ at the nail salon). I added a rhinestone to accentuate the mani; it also works well if your wedding dress had rhinestones on it.

Zoya Stephanie with Konad m19 and m51 and Rhinestone

What makes this tutorial kind of fun is you can basically stop at any step and add top coat and you’re all set :) The further down you go, the fancier the manicure!

  1. Apply base coat on your nails (I didn’t do it for the photo since I was going to take it off right after the tutorial was finished ;) ) Then add french tip using plate m19 with white polish (Konad or non-konad will do).
  2. Apply two coats of your favorite nude polish. I used Zoya Stephanie:
  3. Add a fast dry topcoat. Wait 5-10 minutes then add flower design from plate m51. I like to put the flowers to the lower inside or outside corned of each nail (but you don’t have to do that):
  4. Now add a rhinestone. You can do this to as many fingers as you want. You can use your fingers to pick up the rhinestone, add a small drop of topcoat to the bottom of the rhinestone to adhere to the nail. However, I find that the rhinestone Pickerr Uperr that I picked up at Sally works much better:
  5. Then gently place on the spot where you want the rhinestone (I picked the center of a flower for this one). Add fast dry topcoat, and you’re all set!

One of SSS readers, Michelle, asked me what ‘nad colors would look good over naked nails. Stay tuned for a couple ideas :

Reader Request: Zoya Harley Konad

Vanessa of Casual Lavish requested that I used the m69 plate for my next Konad. Since she provided the nice Zoya giveaway a month ago, I figured I would use one of the Zoya colors from that :) The small dots on it did not pick up very well. So I improvised and made random flowers on the index, middle, ring and pinky. The thumb turned out decent:

Tip of the day: If extreme fine details is not picking up from the plate, try cleaning your ‘nad plate with felt and nail polish remover before attempting again.

Zoya Sloane Konad

Tip of the day: Use chrome colors that are in the same color family as the color of polish that you’re using! This works especially well if your base color is dark like Zoya Sloane!
