Sally Hansen Garnet Lapis Layering Fauxnad

Quick housekeeping update: I slightly changed the look of the blog but I tried to keep everything close to what it was before. I tried to take a stab at my banner and I think it’s okay, but it might change again. Let me know what you think!

Another thing I love to do with my polish is layering. There are just endless possibilities! In fact, if I ever divert on this blog (which I’m still contemplating on doing), it would be layering because the colors you can accomplish is amazing. With that said, I’m going to post a very cool layering combo with a holographic polish (Color Club Revvvolution) and Sally Hansen Garnet Lapis (from the Prisms collection). It shifts from blue to purple indoors/indirect sunlight and sports major bling/holo in direct sunlight. How cool!

If you can track it down and if you love to layer your polish, try to find any of the Prisms collection from Sally Hansen. I found mine on eBay at a decent enough price a year ago. I’m not sure if they still have an inventory around in the land of the evil.

To top things off, I added a holo ‘nad with it! Talk about bling overload:

Happy Easter!

Pastel colors are awesome! I seriously couldn’t decide on one color for Easter so I decided to go for the skittle look :) One of the new plates (s1o) has a bird which would work for this fun day :) I’m not sure what the “Pi” above the bird is all about so I got rid of it for this ‘Nad. Sorry about the wonky middle nail. I didn’t realize it until I looked at the picture :(

Zoya Miley Konad

Another rave for Creative Nail Design’s Effects. I added it over a soft shade and it just makes the soft shades much more fun. I would say this is definitely a fun work appropriate combo!

OPI Holiday Glow Konad

OPI Holiday Glow is a beautiful color. It’s one of those colors that I can’t stop staring at because of the red (yes red) glitter that’s in it. I added something fall-ish for the Konad with a bronze color. I figured this is a good one to post since Thanksgiving is about a week away :)

Color Club Vintage Couture Konad

I’m pleased to announce to add a new polish to the polish list! One of my favorite teals, Misa Dirty Sexy Money works great with the ‘nad! I decided to put it on top of the girly Color Club Vintage Couture.

Tip of the day: It really helps to have a piece of paper towel under your plate when you’re scraping off the polish. That way you make less of a mess. Try to fold your paper towel in half before you scrape. That way if the 1st layer of paper towel gets ripped, you have a backup layer!

Color Club Ultra Violet Fauxnad

Color Club Ultra Violet is one of the coolest neons I own (besides China Glaze Turned Up Turquoise). I decided to do a funky 70s flower in blue for a cool contrast:

It is just me, or does this remind me of those groovy bathtub stickers from 30 years ago?

Tip of the day: Try placing your scraper perpendicular to your plate when scraping. Images seem to be sharper that way.

Color Club Revvvolution Konad

Chromes are so great to ‘nad with. My latest discovery to the polish list is Creative Nail Designs Times Square. Unfortunately, it’s discontinued (boo), but the closest that I can think of is China Glaze Devotion. After looking at one of Scrangie’s Konad with China Glaze OMG! and the m64 plate, I figured I would try something similar. Not near as cool as hers, but still distracting. It looks like marbling, how cool!

Tip of the day: ‘nading with holos are fun! To take full advantage of the effect, chose plates that take up a lot of surface with less fine lines!

Barbie called, she wants her nails back

I swatched essie Magnifico on a fake nail and figured that it is a pretty color. So I threw a Konad design from my m64 plate that I haven’t tried. Here’s what came out of it:

I don’t know if I like it with the Konad or not. It totally reminds me of Barbie rolling up in her pink convertible at Venice Beach. I don’t think it’s me, but I left it on for a day anyway.

Tip of the day: If you really don’t like a color, you can always cover it up with a full Konad design with black polish. It can totally change the look of your mani!

Misa Radiant Konad

Some of the examples of Konad that you see on their website is…well, sometimes not very realistic. Your ‘nad doesn’t necessarily need to stand out. In fact, it can complement a color when used properly.

Tip of the Day: If you are wearing a duochrome or irredescent polish, try to use a ‘nad color that is one of the colors in your duochrome. Sometimes it might be a flop, and other times it may look great. It’s worth a try!

Color Club Fashion Addict Fauxnad

This is my second ‘nad with holographic polish. I held out for a while because I kept thinking that the ‘nad and holo would be too busy. This one didn’t turn out so bad though.

Tip of the day: If you want to ‘nad over a holo, then definitely use a very tone down (ahem: boring) color. That way it doesn’t look like you just drove through a Cirque de Soleil tent. However, if you’re going to see Cirque du Soleil or meet with Suzi, then go for a crazy color to ‘nad.
